By bus: the direct Curreri line
The Curreri bus links the airport with Sorrento in 75-90 minutes for 10 euro, with 8-10 runs a day and stops in Pompeii, Castellammare and Vico. The budget choice if the timetable fits yours; the last run is late afternoon and bags go in the hold.
By train: Alibus plus Circumvesuviana
Alibus to Napoli Centrale (5 euro, 25 minutes), then the Circumvesuviana to Sorrento (about 5 euro, 65 minutes): two hours in all, crowded trains in summer and your bags in hand. Positano and Amalfi cannot be reached by train.
By taxi: a negotiated price
There is no municipal flat fare to Sorrento: the ride is negotiated beforehand, usually 100-130 euro per car, with no booking and no name sign. On peak days the queue outside is long.
By private transfer: door to door
Your chauffeur is in the arrivals hall with a sign, the flight is tracked and the fixed per-vehicle price is locked at booking. You pay on arrival. To the hotel door, down the narrow streets of the centre and along the whole Amalfi Coast.
